GED tutoring & preparation in Helderberg

I built this GED pathway around the learner in front of me. We strengthen what they understand now, use approaches that fit how they learn, then work towards focused preparation and practice exams.

Discuss GED support

Where does GED preparation begin?

A consultation gives you space to discuss your child’s current learning, gaps and goals. Where appropriate, a placement assessment helps identify a starting point. The centre supports learners aged 12–19; joining a foundation programme is different from being ready or eligible to sit an exam.

Reading, writing and maths foundations come first. The emphasis is on understanding the work and practising it, rather than moving straight into exam papers when the underlying skills still need attention.

How does Sadie adapt the learning?

I blend GED preparation with resources I have made for my learners. The SPARK Method is a learning scaffold: we scan the question, pick out keywords, look at the answers first, read only what is needed and keep eliminating. It helps with barriers around reading, processing and attention; it is not an aid for use in an exam.

If a concept is difficult, we can use a story or analogy, try different steps towards the same answer, or pause before returning to it. I do not move on until the learner understands the idea, can apply it and feels confident enough for the next step.

From foundations to test readiness

As the learner progresses, support moves towards GED test preparation and mock exams. This creates a progression from building skills to applying them in an exam setting, with the starting point and pace discussed individually.

Weekly learner check-ins and learner-led goals help guide the work. Termly assessments and individual feedback help track progress. Use your consultation to ask what this would look like for your child and how you will stay involved.

Placement, fees and exam timing

The two-day group option has a R750 Study With Sadie placement-test fee. Placement testing is included in the three-, four- and five-day options. This starting-point assessment is separate from the official GED Ready practice test required before an exam can be scheduled. The main page gives the starting price and links to Sadie’s complete downloadable fee document.

GED exams are readiness-based rather than tied to a school exam period. In South Africa, a learner must pass the official GED Ready practice test with at least 145 before scheduling. The family can then choose the subject, date, time and available approved test centre through the official GED system.

Parents remain responsible for the official booking, current eligibility and identification requirements, and external curriculum platforms. Check the requirements of any institution your child hopes to apply to. A support programme does not itself guarantee an exam result or admission.
